A young woman is recovering in a Ugandan hospital after allegedly being charred by her father for converting to Christianity.
Rahema Kyomuhendo, 24, has to spend one more month at the Mbale Regional Referral Hospital after suffering severe injuries on May 4. Her father, Sheikh Hussein Byaruhanga, a spiritual teacher, was said to have used combustible from a jerrycan to cause horrific injuries to her legs, stomach, ribs, neck, and part of her lower back after complaining of the conversion.
Ms. Kyomuhendo had followed her father on a business trip 300 miles across the country, in Mbarara District. She went to visit his sister after becoming confined due to the coronavirus outbreak.
She phoned a Catholic friend of her father while attending to a Christian radio station and became convicted.
Speaking to the website from her sickbed, she said: She revealed about Christ and the way of protection, and she got convicted and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. As she was sharing Christ with her, she was so overjoyed, and her father heard her celebration and woke up, came from his bedroom furiously, and started beating her up with blows, slaps, and kicks.
Father Complained To Aunt
Ms. Kyomuhendo alleged that her father screamed at her aunt that she had converted to Christianity, and he was going to kill her. It was the latest in a series of attacks against Christians. According to a statement carried out in 2014 more than 84% of the people are Christian, with Muslims making up just 14%.
