Netflix already renewed the fantasy series The Witcher for a second season even before the release of season 1. This year, the filming of the upcoming season stopped because of coronavirus, and now the good news is the filming will begin soon, and we are so excited to see our favourite characters again. Recently, the showrunner of the series named Lauren Schmidt Hissrich opened about the transformation of the important character of Ciri in the second season. So keep reading to know about it:
Ciri, full name Cirilla Fiona Elen Riannon, is the child of Pavetta and Duny. She is the princess of Cintra and Queen Calanthe’s granddaughter. She becomes the destiny of Geralt of Rivia because of the Law of Surprise. When Geralt helped in removing the curse of Duny, then the father of Ciri asked from Witcher for the reward, and then Geralt asked for the Law of Surprise, and Pavetta was pregnant with Ciri, and Duny also not know about the pregnancy. When Nilfgaardian attacked the castle of Cintra, the queen ordered Ciri to discover Geralt as now he’s her destiny.
Ciri’s Transformation For Season 2
Recently the creator of the series Lauren Schmidt Hissrich shared some details for the character of Ciri. She claimed that she will appear as a warrior in the upcoming season. She added that many scenes of Ciri were removed from the first season and her screentime is also less, and we were not able to see the critical scenes of her.’
The way Ciri is portrayed in the books did not appear in the series till now, and as per the creator, we will see a different side of Ciri as she will take training for becoming the warrior.
Other Details For Season 2
The filming for the second season of The Witcher will reportedly restart from August 17, 2020. A release date is still not declared, and we are expecting it to release on Netflix in late 2021. Freya Allan will reprise her role as Cirilla, and alongside her, we will see Henry Cavill as Geralt, Thue Ersted Rasmussen as Eskel, Anya Chalotra as Yennefer, Paul Bullion as Lambert, Agnes Bjorn as Vereena, Kristofer Hivju as Nivellen
Yasen Atour as Coen, Mecia Simson as Francesca, and Aisha Fabienne Ross as Lydia. This season will be inspired by Blood of Elves novel of Andrzej Sapkowski.
