The much talked about musical film Dear Evan Hansen is all set to make its way on the big screen under the Universal banner. Moreover, it is not going to be a live recording and will be more like an adaptation. The film has been talked about for a long time and it seems like the studio has finally decided to kickstart production.

With Stephen Chbosky roped in as the director, the film was confirmed back in 2018. It’s been almost two years since there has been any more development on the production. Composers Benj Pasek and Justin Paul will be serving as executive producers of the film, the dip jas been the brains behind big hits like La La Land and The Greatest Showman.

The story revolves around a troubled high school teen who writes letters to himself in order to help with his anxiety issues. However, confusion follows when the outside world thinks that one of the letters is written by Connor Murphy, who died by suicide. Evan somehow takes advantage of this and becomes popular in the school.
Dear Evan Hansen: The Studio Has Gathered An Impressive Star Cast.
Moreover, Ben Platt has been roped in for the leading role of Evan Hansen. Iconic actress Julianne Moore will be playing Evan’s mother in the upcoming film. Amy Adams has been roped in to play Connor Murphy’s mother. Universal is yet to announce the release date yet but reportedly production started in August 2020. So, we can see the movie making it’s way to the theatres at the end of next year itself.
