Cillian Murphy (b. 1976, Douglas, Ireland) trained at the Corcadorca Theatre Company in Cork before breaking out in Danny Boyle’s 28 Days Later (2002). His collaboration with Christopher Nolan began with Batman Begins (2005), running through Inception, Dunkirk, and finally Oppenheimer, for which he won the Best Actor Oscar in 2024.

Murphy is the rare lead with character-actor instincts. He plays interiority — the watcher, the thinker, the man whose face does most of the storytelling. His Peaky Blinders run as Tommy Shelby (2013–2022) is one of TV’s great performances.

Lives in Dublin with his wife Yvonne McGuinness and two sons. Notoriously private; rarely on social media.
