Frequently Asked
About our movie reviews
- How does TheDigitalWise rate movies?
-
We use a 10-point Wise Score that averages four pillars: visuals (cinematography, design, effects), story (writing, pacing, theme), acting (lead and ensemble performances), and rewatch value (how it holds up on a second viewing). Each pillar is scored 0–10 and weighted equally. Read the full ratings criteria.
- Who writes the reviews?
-
Each review is owned by a single named critic from our editorial desk — never an algorithm, never a freelancer paid per click. The byline is final accountability: the critic watched the entire film and stands behind the verdict.
- How often do new reviews drop?
-
New reviews land Tuesday and Friday mornings (US Eastern). Premium picks ship same-day for Oscar contenders and major theatrical releases. The full release calendar shows what we are reviewing next.
- Do you cover non-English-language films?
-
Yes. About 30% of our archive is non-English. We have dedicated critics for Korean, Tamil, Hindi, Japanese, Spanish, and French cinema. World cinema gets the same scoring rigor as Hollywood.
- Are your "where to watch" recommendations affiliate links?
-
Some are; most are not. We disclose every commercial relationship at the page level, never push you toward a higher-paying platform, and the editorial team has no visibility into affiliate revenue when ranking. Read our affiliate disclosure.
- How do I suggest a film for review?
-
