If Season 1 of The Bear was an anxiety attack and Season 2 was a triumph, Season 3 is a recovery. The show is in low-grade pain for ten episodes, and that’s okay.

What’s Different

Carmy is deteriorating. Sydney’s contemplating a job offer. Richie’s still finding his feet post-Forks. The frenetic kitchen energy is replaced with watchful patience.

What’s the Same

The writing is still gold. Tina’s episode is one of the best of the season. Lionel Boyce’s Marcus quietly carries the heart of the show.

The Bottom Line

Not for everyone. But the Storer creative team has earned the right to slow down.
