Jeremy Allen White (b. 1991, Brooklyn, NY) spent eleven seasons as Lip Gallagher on Showtime’s Shameless before exploding into the spotlight as Carmy in FX’s The Bear (2022–). He’s won three consecutive Best Actor (Comedy) Emmys for the role and a Golden Globe.
White plays Carmy as a coiled bundle of grief and self-criticism. The role required physical commitment (real kitchen training) and emotional precision. Off-screen he’s known to be guarded.
