Some links on The Digital Wise are affiliate links. This is the plain-English version of how that works and what it does — and does not — affect.

An affiliate link is a tracked URL. If you click it and end up subscribing to a streaming service, pre-ordering a film, buying a ticket, or signing up for a sports broadcast, we may receive a small commission from the merchant. The price you pay does not change because of our link.

Where you will see them

Most commonly in:

  • Streaming round-ups (“What to watch on Netflix this week”).
  • Review pages where there is a clear “watch on” path.
  • Pre-order links for new releases (Blu-rays, soundtracks, official merch).
  • Match-day pieces linking to the official broadcaster.

Affiliate links are usually labelled with a small “affiliate” or “ad” tag. Where the entire piece is affiliate-driven (deal round-ups), the page header carries the disclosure prominently.

They do not affect the verdict in a review. Reviews are written and edited before affiliate links are added. They do not affect what we choose to cover. We do not write a positive review of a streaming service to earn higher signups. If a series is bad, we say so — affiliate link or no affiliate link.

Programmes we participate in

We participate in publisher programmes operated by major streamers, ticketing platforms, and a small number of retailers (including Amazon Associates). We use a single affiliate aggregator where possible to keep tracking consistent.

Why we do this

Affiliate revenue lets us pay reporters and editors. It is one of three revenue streams (alongside display advertising and newsletter sponsorship) that keep The Digital Wise independent — see our Ownership & Funding page. We would rather earn from a reader subscribing to something we honestly recommend than chase ad impressions.

Compliance

This disclosure is published under FTC, ASA, and CAP guidance for endorsements and disclosures. Affiliate posts also include the relevant “ad” or “affiliate” label inline. If you ever feel a piece is not disclosed clearly enough, email [email protected] and we will fix it.
